Now Hiring: Museum Director
The Johnny Appleseed Museum and Educational Center is seeking a dynamic and visionary Museum Director to lead one of Ohio’s unique cultural treasures.
This is an exciting opportunity for a community-minded leader who is passionate about history, education, nonprofit management, fundraising, and public engagement.
As the Museum’s chief ambassador, the Director will oversee operations, collections, strategic planning, financial stewardship, marketing, and fundraising while supervising two staff members and working closely with dedicated volunteers. Reporting directly to the Johnny Appleseed Foundation Board of Trustees, the Director will help shape the future of the Museum, build relationships with donors and community partners, and ensure that the legacy of Johnny Appleseed continues to inspire future generations.
The Museum is open to the public Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Director's regular schedule is Tuesday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with approximately five Saturdays per year required for special events and large group tours. The position also includes participation via Zoom in approximately 10 monthly two-hour Board meetings each year. Total annual work commitment is just over 1,500 hours.
Salary:$39,000 annually, including two weeks of paid vacation.
